Welcome back to MOCA! Learn about our new exhibition through a three-day series of public programmes and workshops that engage with the practice and techniques of exhibiting artist Jeff Wall all weekend long.

Drop-In Workshop: Layering Light

Experiment with light at the museum. Celebrate the opening of Jeff Wall Photographs 1984–2023, with this hands-on family-friendly workshop.

Inspired by Jeff Wall’s work, create your own colourful layered images. Using prepared materials such as pre-cut shapes, transparency paper, and colour gels, families will explore how foreground, middle ground, and background layers come together when building an image. Then, construct a frame that mimics Jeff Wall’s unique display method: a lightbox. Participants will create miniature lightboxes that use the sun to illuminate your works of art.

This activity offers participants of all ages a chance to step into contemporary photographic creativity!

Free with admission, no registration needed. Supplies are limited and on a first-come first-serve basis.
