MOCA’s Youth Council presents Lost in Transmediation. This pop-up exhibition explores the journey between mediums, from paint to pixels, canvas to computer. This multimedia approach reflects the unique path teens take in a world of new technology and new rules from the perspective of a generation that was raised in the online, digital world.
Responding to the works of Kimsooja and Sara Cwynar, this exhibition re-contextualizes transmediation, the process of translating a work into a different medium, by featuring artworks that place modern technology in conversation with its analogue predecessors.
Bringing together a group of emerging young artists from diverse backgrounds, Creative Youth’s exhibition emphasizes notions of childhood, identity, and the future in an era more alienated from the natural world than ever before, challenging the ways we view and interact with society. In dialogue with the work of current exhibitions at MOCA, this youth-led exhibition is paired with interactive public programmes that encourage togetherness through conversation and art-making.
This pop-up exhibition is held on Floor 1 and is free to the public. A General Admission ticket is needed to explore Floors 2 and 3.

Join us for a special edition of Free Friday Night at MOCA on July 3, as we celebrate the opening of Creative Youth’s exhibition, Lost in Transmediation, with friends, family, and the community. Following a short introduction, stick around to meet the artists and learn more about their work.
On Free Friday Nights, admission to the museum is free. Bring a friend, wander the exhibitions, and take in MOCA’s striking architecture. Forno Cultura is open until 9 pm on Fridays, with snacks and drinks available for purchase.
About Creative Youth
Creative Youth is a three-month programme of workshops, field trips, and creative sessions for youth to turn their emerging community arts passion into practice. The programme aims to expose participants to programme production, community outreach, curation and artistic professional development and culminates in a co-produced exhibition and public programme. In developing their programme, members of Creative Youth have the opportunity to respond to MOCA’s exhibitions and to broader contemporary issues. Members are responsible for coordination and facilitation of the programme including, marketing, writing, art-making and curation.
