Join MOCA’s Artistic Director, Rui Mateus Amaral, for an exclusive tour of Bharti Kher’s Bones and Delcy Morelos’s Ombligo.
This is a unique opportunity to gain deeper insight into these contrasting exhibitions, and see them through a curatorial lens.
Begin with Bones, where monumental sculptures, uncanny figures, architectural remnants, and bindi-covered paintings collide into new entities. For Kher, the title “Bones” refers both to bodily remains and to a foundation upon which something can be built, expanded, and transformed.
Then, explore Delcy Morelos’s new site-specific commission on Floor 2, Ombligo. Learn about how this space-defining, multisensory work came to life, from its intensive installation process to the sourcing and farming of local corn. Discuss the ideas behind this powerful and moving artwork, reflecting on your relationship with the natural world.
As you move through both exhibitions, Mateus Amaral will share his curatorial perspective on the themes of the work, as well as the process of developing and shaping both exhibitions.
Registration is required to attend this tour. General admission is included with your ticket.
