Join MOCA for a workshop aiming to bring together and support emerging BIPOC artists from underserved communities as they begin to navigate local and international art worlds.
Taking place within the exhibition Dancing in the Light on MOCA’s third floor, this event will connect a group of twenty emerging artists with three guest speakers, along with the museum’s curatorial team and guest curator for Dancing in the Light, Farida Abu-Bakare.
Participants will hear presentations by the invited guests on their work, and participate in guided conversations. Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided. The guest speakers will include Miguel A. Lopez, Co-Curator of the 2024 Toronto Biennial of Art, Simon Cole, Gallerist, and June Clark, a visual artist whose photography is currently featured in Dancing in the Light.
To apply please fill out the form below. Twenty selected artists will be notified by January 12, 2024 and will receive an honorarium of $250.00 each. In order to receive the honorarium, participants must attend the workshop on January 29, 2024.
