Art Hive at MOCA

Friday, December 11, 2026
 | 5:00 pm
 – 8:00 pm
 | Free

Welcome back to Art Hive at MOCA, a free art-making programme that invites you to create on select Friday evenings!

Each Art Hive session is unique, featuring creative invitations written by graduate students from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. You’ll be invited to respond to a prompt that encourages you to consider MOCA’s current exhibitions while connecting with your community.

Join us in exploring Bharti Kher’s exhibition Bones on Floor 1. Create your own artwork, surrounded by Kher’s Matter paintings. Densely covered with bindis, that sweep and swirl into formations evoking both microscopic life and vast celestial visions. Kher’s work reflects balance, transformation, and perception, and we invite you to think about these themes as you express yourself in the space—all skill levels welcome. Use the provided materials to create something new, or bring in a work in progress!

This season, Art Hive takes place on Fridays, when MOCA is open until 8 pm.

Art Hive is free to attend on Floor 1. To visit the rest of the museum, book admission here. Seating is first-come, first-served. RSVPs help us plan for attendance.

About Art Hive at MOCA

Art Hives are community-based creative spaces rooted in the research and practice of Dr. Janis Timm-Bottos at Concordia University. They foster inclusion, connection, and creativity in a welcoming, non-judgmental environment.

About the Facilitators

Each session will be led by graduate students from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute—supported by the MOCA Learning Team—who will facilitate a supportive space for self-expression and creativity.

How to support Art Hive

At MOCA, we believe in the power of art to inspire, connect, and transform.

If you would like to donate materials such as yarn, fabric or magazines to be used for free community programmes like Art Hives, please email learning@moca.ca. Your generous support helps us offer accessible programming for all.
