Head on over to MOCA Toronto on July 6 and 7 for the final Family Weekend workshops of the exhibition season and learn some photography techniques inspired by the works of June Clark, Lisa Myers, and Timothy Yanick Hunter.
Saturday Workshops
Saturday, July 6
Join MOCA and visiting artist Cruz for a workshop that introduces you to the possibilities of instant photography through polaroid emulsion lift, a process used to remove the photographic emulsion from an instant print. The emulsion can then be transferred to another material, such as glass, wood or paper to create unique multimedia artworks.
Registration is required for this programme.
About the Artist
Cruz is a first-generation Filipino artist based in Mississauga and Toronto. Her work delves into the depths of human emotion, often drawing from her personal experiences with mental health.
Primarily recognized as a lens-based artist, Cruz frequently ventures into diverse creative realms, often intertwining mixed media and poetry in her expressive explorations.
Child-Centred Workshop(2 pm):
This polaroid emulsion lift workshop is intended for children aged 8+ accompanied by a guardian.
Adult-Centred Workshop:
This polaroid emulsion lift workshop will explore methods of self-reflection, teaching participants how to transfer these themes into their artworks.
TD Community Sunday
Sunday, July 7
This TD Sunday, MOCA’s Art Educators will be running a hands-on activity inspired by the photography included in GTA24. Learn about the history and invention of photography by experimenting with one of the earliest forms of photography: cyanotypes. Come explore both science and art with this light sensitive paper and bring home your own cyanotype photographs.
