Join MOCA and Mosaic Yoga for moving meditation amidst Delcy Morelos’ multi-sensory installation, Ombligo.
Encounter a curving, belly-like form that swells and stretches from the ceiling made of sisal rope treated with soil and corn, imbued with aromatics. Morelos creates powerful environments that engage the earth as both medium and metaphor, exploring themes of spirituality, memory, and the intertwined histories of land, labour, and colonialism. Pulling inspiration from the ingenuity of the spider, Morelos spins and weaves a sensory web with presence, fragrance and texture, and a space for reflection.
In a gentle play of movement, intentional breath, and meditation, you are invited to experience this installation through multiple senses. Taking place next to Ombligo —‘navel’ in English — this class will bring together mindfulness, meditation and movement.
Step beyond the studio and explore how movement and art can intersect in new ways. No experience needed – just bring your curiosity and be ready to move.
Please bring your own yoga mat to participate. We also recommend bringing a sealable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the session. Doors open at 6:15 and the class will begin promptly at 6:30 pm on Floor 2.
Moving Meditation takes place when MOCA is otherwise closed. Tickets are sold through Mosaic Yoga and include access to Delcy Morelos’s exhibition on Floor 2.
About the Instructor
As a teacher and multidisciplinary artist, Rami Schandall (she/her) is grateful for the body-mind practices that offer balance, ongoing inquiry, and inspire creative ways of engaging with the world. Discernment and self-study are central principles in Schandall’s teaching. In a life-long practice, self-awareness and the physical body continually change. At every stage, it is possible to listen more deeply, to ground, and to water the seeds of joy and wisdom.
