March Break Drop-In Workshops

Wednesday, March 18, 2026
 – Friday, March 20, 2026
 | Free with Admission

Join us at MOCA this March Break for hands-on programming inspired by our exhibition, Jeff Wall Photographs 1984–2023.

Our March Break drop-in programmes welcome students and families to visit the museum while school is out. Experiment with aluminum foil sculpting, dream up your own art museum, or craft your own triptych.

We invite children grades K–8, supervised by an adult, to drop by and join the fun! See the full schedule below.

This activity is free with admission. Kids aged 18 and under get in for free. Book ahead, or acquire your ticket at the door.

Drop-in Workshop: Strike a Pose!
Wednesday, March 18 | 1–4 pm

Inspired by the figures in Jeff Wall Photographs 1984–2023, join us at MOCA and sculpt with aluminum foil. This medium is perfect for crafting figures in dynamic poses, then transforming them into something new! What will you create?

Drop-in Workshop: Children’s Pavillion
Thursday, March 19 | 1–4 pm

What would your own art museum look like?

Step into the art world and imagine yourself as an artist and curator! Sketch your plan and collaborate with others to imagine the future of museums from a kid’s perspective. What art would you display? What community activities would you do? How would you make it fun for children?

In 1988, Jeff Wall collaborated with architect Dan Graham to create the Children’s Pavillion. Though never built, Jeff Wall’s Children—a series of photographs of children in large circular lightboxes—was inspired by these plans. This imagined pavilion was designed as a space for children to play, create, and express themselves within.

Drop-in Workshop: Triptych Storytime
Friday, March 20 | 1–4 pm

Choose your own adventure!

Responding to Wall’s three-photograph series, I giardini / The Gardens, create your own three-part story. Learn about art history, and how one artwork across three different panels or canvases makes a “triptych.” In this workshop,  and make your very own triptych! The stories you create do not need to have a set beginning, middle or end, and can be shuffled like cards to create new stories each time you view them.
