Art Hive at MOCA

Monday, November 4, 2024
 | 5:00 pm
 – 8:00 pm
 | Drop-in | Free

Join us for Art Hive at MOCA, a drop-in art programme that invites the whole community to stop by and create! This free programme runs bi-weekly on Monday evenings—October 21, November 4, and November 18—from 5–8 pm. No registration needed.

Explore a range of materials and techniques, from painting and drawing to collage, guided by three visiting art therapy students who will facilitate creative expression. Bring your works-in-progress and join a vibrant community, where you can find inspiration and engage in conversation. All skill levels are welcome, from beginners to professionals.

As part of our mission to be ambitiously inclusive, this programme is free to all and materials will be provided. MOCA’s first floor will also be open free-of-charge to all participants to explore the exhibition Diaries After a Flood, featuring works by Vancouver-based artist Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas.

This programme is intended for adults, seniors and teens. We recommend families with young children stop by for our TD Community Sundays for kid-friendly tours and activities each month.

Please note: Art Hive takes place on Mondays, outside of MOCA’s regular hours. Though Floors 2 and 3 of the museum will be closed, the Ground Floor will remain accessible. Stop by and explore your creative side!

What is an Art Hive?

Art Hives provide free, community art-making spaces open to everyone, aiming to foster a welcoming environment for all participants. You don’t need to have any experience making art to join.

This programme draws from the research and practice of Dr. Janis Timm-Bottos, a professor at Concordia University. Learn more about Art Hives  here.

About the Facilitators

Each session will be led by three graduate students at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute who will facilitate a supportive space for self-expression and creativity. These students will be supported by the MOCA Learning team.
