Nuit Blanche 2022

Join MOCA for a wide range of exciting programming in celebration and accompaniment of Toronto’s Nuit Blanche, commencing on Saturday, October 1 and extending into the afternoon of Sunday, October 2.

At the centre of MOCA’s night of activities is the site-specific installation untitled 2013 (thomas demands here), developed by internationally acclaimed artist, Rirkrit Tiravanija. untitled 2013 (thomas demands here) is a life-size model and functional karaoke bar modelled after a bar titled Black Label in Kokura, Japan. The ‘bar’ and ground floor of MOCA will be activated by various learning programmes and tours throughout the day and enlivened with sake tasting and karaoke throughout the night.

Saturday, October 1

12–2 pm

Join MOCA in welcoming children’s book author Cary Fagan. This is the Museum’s second exhibition season of monthly reading sessions organized in partnership with Groundwood Books. View more information here.

12–4 pm

Join MOCA at the annual Sterling Road Block Party to enjoy a free arts-based workshop. View more information here.

3–5 pm

Meet on MOCA’s ground floor at 2:50 pm to enjoy a free tour our new exhibitions, led by one of MOCA’s skilled Arts Educators. Ticket purchase to the upper floors is required. The tour will take place from 3-3:45 pm. View more information regarding MOCA’s exhibition offerings here.

The Museum tour will be followed by an introductory tour of Seeing the Invisible, an outdoor augmented reality exhibition, at 4 pm. This outdoor tour will last roughly 45 minutes and take participants from MOCA to Sorauren Park. View more information regarding this project here.

6–9 pm

Join MOCA in welcoming sake expert and educator, Mariko Tajiri, for an evening of informal tastings and education sessions in celebration of International Sake Day. View more information here.

10 pm–7 am

Enjoy drop-in karaoke within untitled 2013 (thomas demands here)! The ‘bar’ can accommodate groups of up to five people at a time with non-alcoholic beverages available throughout the night.

Sunday, October 2

12–4 pm

Developed by MOCA’s new team of skilled Arts Educators, this programme will feature collaborative activities that explore themes such as architecture, environment and memory. View more information here.
