Welcome back to MOCA Toronto! Learn about our new exhibitions through our opening weekend drop-in programmes.
Join us for a long weekend that’s packed with activities and workshops, inspired by our current exhibitions. You’ll explore the evolving definitions of still life and how objects, materials, and environments come to life within contemporary art.
There’s something for everyone this weekend: a drop-in still life drawing activity for adults on Friday, fun kid-friendly activities on Saturday, and a hands-on sculpture programme for all ages on Sunday.
Come by, explore, and get creative!
Free with admission, no registration needed, and available while supplies last.
Friday Drop-in Workshop
Friday, April 18 | 5–9 pm
Bring a friend and grab a pencil as MOCA welcomes you to the world of still life in this free evening drop-in workshop.
First, visit Margaux Williamson’s solo exhibition Shoes, books, hands, buildings, and cars on Floor 3, and explore how her new still life paintings transform familiar objects and subtly echo MOCA’s architecture, made surreal through her distinctive style.
Then, create your own still life drawing! Using pencils and charcoal, you’ll explore sketching techniques and experiment with ways to bring everyday objects to life on paper. Inspired by the intimate scenes in Williamson’s paintings, this drop-in session will guide you through capturing light, texture, and composition as you create your own artwork.
This session offers a preview of our upcoming evening drawing workshop series, coming later this season!
