MOCA Toronto has partnered with local bars and organizations to activate Rirkrit Tiravanija’s work untitled 2013 (thomas demand’s here), 2022. Each partner will ‘takeover’ the bar on a monthly basis during MOCA Free Friday Nights powered by Scotiabank from 6:00–9:00 pm. Partners include Civil Liberties, Mother Cocktail Bar, and Bar Mordecai. Each organization will offer a different set menu that highlights their own unique offerings and plays with the concepts and themes present within Thomas Demand HOUSE OF CARD.

The installation untitled 2013 (thomas demand’s here) is a site-specific, physical environment which mirrors a bar named Black Label, located in Kokura, Japan. The work plays with themes of space and repetition. In addition to its activation as a bar space, it will be used to host performance and other artistic interventions, including karaoke.

Each partner is responsible for pricing their menu. Prices of drinks may vary.

We will always choose kind over cool. Civil is a place and space to meet friends, new and old, over great drinks and unpretentious service. Join our team as we explore and question every bottle behind our bar and every recipe and ratio in our library.

Anyone can call themselves a cocktail expert, it’s only through our peers and community we can hope to become cocktail ambassadors. We want to find a drink to match your story.

Now you just need to come in and tell us yours.

Mother Cocktail Bar was started by like-minded people with a common goal to elevate the Canadian cocktail scene. Our philosophy is simple: source quality natural ingredients, enhance them through fermentation and create memorable cocktails for our guests.

At Mother, we develop our cocktails thematically. Join us for Chapter Three: Connections, where we have developed an intricate menu which explores the different types of human connections we form throughout our lives.
