About the Artists
Jes Fan (b. Scarborough, ON) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Originally trained in glass making, Fan’s expansive practice now encompasses a diverse range of mediums and approaches. Spanning video and sculpture, his trans-disciplinary practice is in conversation with the intersection of biology and identity and its relationship to the materiality of the gendered and racialized body. Recent exhibitions include Empty Gallery, Hong Kong (2023, 2018); MIT List Visual Arts Center, UCCA Dune (2022); Kunsthall Trondheim (2021); Rockbund Art Museum, China (2019) and Hayward Gallery, UK (2019). Fan has also participated in numerous artist residencies with institutions including the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Recess Art, and Pioneer Works. He also participated in the Venice Biennale (2022), New Museum Triennial (2021), Liverpool Biennale (2021), Sydney Biennale (2020), Socrates Annual (2019).
Sin Wai Kin (b. Toronto, ON) brings fantasy to life through storytelling in performance, moving image, writing, and print. Drawing on experiences of existing between binary categories, their work realizes alternate worlds to describe lived experiences of desire, identification and consciousness. Recent exhibitions of their work have taken place at MUDAM, Luxembourg (2024), Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive (2023), and The British Museum, London (2022). The film, A Dream of Wholeness in Parts (2021), which is included in GTA24 was commissioned for the British Art Show 9 at the Hayward Gallery (London), and was nominated for the 2022 Turner Prize.
