Free Friday Night: Dress as your Favourite Movie Character!

Friday, June 2

To kickstart the weekend, you’re invited to dress up in a fun outfit inspired by the MOCA Family Weekend Theme. Join in by wearing a full “costume” or by wearing one item that represents the theme.

This Friday the theme is: Dress as your Favourite Movie Character!

Workshop with Megan Keenan

Saturday, June 3

Everybody has a story to tell, you just have to figure out the best way to tell it. For visual storytellers, the storyboard is the ultimate tool. In this workshop with artist Megan Keenan, you’ll learn how to create a storyboard by breaking down scenes and translating them into illustrations that can help create the roadmap for a film.

This workshop is inspired by MOCA’s current exhibition Imposter Cities, which examines architectural identity and the ways in which Canadian cities regularly act as doubles for other locations in movies and television. After this workshop, participants will have the tools needed to start telling their own stories — whether those stories take place in your city, or an imposter city, is up to you.

Registration is recommended for this workshop as there is limited capacity.

TD Community Sunday

Sunday, June 4

Join MOCA’s Arts Educators for a playful workshop inspired by Impostor Cities. Using simpler versions of green screen techniques and methods found in the exhibition, this activity asks participants to reimagine Toronto. Using the city skyline as a reference, participants will be asked what they would change about the city, what they would keep the same and what they think makes Toronto unique.
