Join MOCA’s Youth Council, Creative Youth, for their spring season exhibition and workshop!
Creative Youth is a twelve-week programme of workshops and seminars for youth to transform their emerging community arts passion into practice. The programme aims to expose participants to programme production, community outreach, curation and artistic professional development and culminates in a co-produced exhibition and public programme.
In developing their programme, members of Creative Youth have the opportunity to respond to MOCA’s exhibitions and to broader contemporary issues and themes. Throughout the twelve weeks, members are responsible for coordination and facilitation of the programme including, marketing, writing, art-making and curation.
Pop-up Exhibition: Quarter Century / Spring
Wednesday, June 11 - Sunday, June 15
This season, Creative Youth presents an exhibition of textile and video installations that reflect on patterns between the early 1900s and the early 2000s—two periods marked by rapid change, shifting identities, and visions of the future.
Inspired by Justin Ming Yong’s Blur, Quarter Century / Spring utilizes quilting and textile techniques to further explore these themes through the long history and discourse of the medium. By working with materials rooted in tradition, the artists consider how we slip between remembering the past and imagining what’s next.
This pop-up exhibition is held on Floor 1 and is free to the public.
