On Tuesday, September 23, join MOCA at the Bata Shoe Museum for a special collaborative Art Hive!
While MOCA is closed for installations, we’re bringing the creativity to a new space. This unique programme invites participants to use shoe lasts as canvases to express their individual identities, perspectives, and artistic styles. Shoe lasts are a tool used by shoemakers to make the shoes. It comes in different shapes and forms used throughout the shoemaking process.
This activity will be guided by art therapy students who will be on hand to inspire and facilitate creative expression. Whether you’re an experienced artist or just starting out, all skill levels are welcome to participate in this vibrant and inclusive community.
As part of our commitment to accessibility, this programme is free, and all materials will be provided. Please note, the focus for this workshop will be towards adults, seniors, and teens aged 16+.
Please note: This Art Hive session takes place off site at Bata Shoe Museum. Seating is limited and is on a first-come first-serve basis. Registration is required.
What is an Art Hive?
Art Hives provide free, community art-making spaces open to everyone, aiming to foster a welcoming environment for all participants. You don’t need to have any experience making art to join.
This programme draws from the research and practice of Dr. Janis Timm-Bottos, a professor at Concordia University. Learn more about Art Hives here.
About the Facilitators
Each session will be led by graduate students at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute who will facilitate a supportive space for self-expression and creativity. These students will be supported by the MOCA Learning team.
