Saturday Workshops
Saturday, June 1
On Saturday, June 1 at MOCA, join us for a workshop with guest artist apè, who will lead you through a hands-on exploration of sound and music in contemporary art by making your own wind chime! Participants are encouraged to bring in materials that remind them of home to use in crafting their wind chimes, such as beads, cutlery, shells or any noise-making objects. Registration is required for this programme.
About the Artist
apè is a Filipinx-Canadian artist working in electronic music and experimental sound. She attempts to create sonic works that gently ask one to question socio-political systems and reality, as well as share “hidden” stories through abstract sound. apè performs live hardware dance music with her duo Phèdre, is Artistic Director of Venus Fest and occasionally teaches university-level arts courses with a focus on inclusivity.
Child-Centred Workshop (2 pm) :
This wind chime making workshop is intended for children aged 6+ accompanied by a guardian.
Adult-Centred Workshop (4 pm):
This wind chime making workshop will dive into the theme of home through sound art.
TD Community Sunday

Create your own rainbows this Sunday at MOCA! Artists of all ages can drop by and create hanging stained-glass style artworks with the help of MOCA’s Art Educators. Try your hand at using tissue paper to craft suncatchers to hang in your windows all summer long. This workshop takes inspiration from Mani Mazinani’s Solar Scale, an immersive, multi-sensory sound, light and touch installation. Celebrate the arrival of summer sunshine in this suncatcher-making workshop!
Afterwards, don’t forget to check out MOCA’s family-friendly drop-in tours at 1 & 3 pm to learn a bit more about our current exhibition, Greater Toronto Art 2024!
