This Community Weekend at MOCA, we invite you to explore, try and learn with us, through family-friendly tours and activities that explore contemporary art.

Saturday Workshop: Framing Memories

Saturday, February 1

Develop your own still-life collage frame in this three-hour-long workshop led by MOCA’s arts educators. Participants will learn the foundations of story development through collaging, painting, and photography while engaging in creative discussions about imagination and the narratives explored through Alex Da Corte’s film installation Rubber Pencil Devil (2018), currently on view at MOCA.

This workshop is intended for participants who are interested in developing and improving their collaging techniques and exploring a new way of displaying their work. Using either a personally sourced image or using a museum provided instant camera, participants will frame their photos with art!

Collaging material, paint, and picture frames are provided with registration. Participants are encouraged to bring in a photograph, otherwise an instant camera is available for use.

Registration is required for this programme.

TD Community Sunday: Storytime in the Museum

Sunday, February 2

This TD Sunday, join us for a storytime circle in the museum! MOCA’s Art Educators will be reading a series of children’s books aloud in the exhibition space, taking inspiration from the playful and colourful artworks in Alex da Corte’s exhibition Ear Worm. Following the reading, participants will be offered opportunities to respond with their own art and explore the other exhibitions with kid-friendly museum tours at 1pm & 3pm.

No registration required.
