Join MOCA’s Volunteer Team

Our volunteers are a vital part of the MOCA Toronto experience. Volunteering with us is a great way to engage with the local art scene and meet other people who share a love contemporary art. We offer a variety of roles for you to contribute in many different ways. We invite you to be a part of our growing community of supporters of this vital and accessible hub for the city’s artistic community.

Volunteer Opportunities

We ask our volunteers to commit to 1-2 shifts per month, for four months to a year. Our volunteers have the flexibility to schedule themselves for a wide variety of volunteer roles, each of which provides vital support to a different aspect of museum operations, including:

  • Welcoming visitors to MOCA on Floor 1 (always free to the public), providing information and directions, and scanning tickets.
  • This role is best for those comfortable approaching and speaking to a wide array of people.
  • This role is generally offered on Friday and weekends.
Activity Facilitator (Ongoing)
  • Assisting MOCA staff with various activities happening both at the museum and off-site.
  • Volunteers must be friendly and comfortable facilitating programs and activities for visitors of all ages.
  • This role would also assist with ticket scanning, wayfinding, and distributing materials.
  • This role is generally offered on weekends.
Special Events (Occasional)
  • Special event shifts will mainly involve greeting, ticket scanning, information, orientation, and some light event setup.
  • This role is generally offered on evenings and weekends.
Administrative (Occasional)
  • Working with a MOCA staff member in one of our administrative departments.
  • Volunteers will require attention to detail and basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Google).
  • This role is generally offered during regular office hours, Monday-Friday, between 10 AM and 5 PM.
Street Team (Occasional)
  • Our street team volunteers represent MOCA at festivals, events, and pop-ups across the city.
