 – Sunday, November 5, 2023
 | Cost varies
Saturday, Nov 4, 2023 | 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm | $5 per person | Sunday, Nov 5, 2023 | 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm | Free | Drop-in

Visit MOCA during our November Family Weekend to explore the world of sculpture making in contemporary art! This month’s activities will focus on experimentation and making sculptures with non-traditional sculpture materials — materials that are often seen as disposable — such as cardboard, textiles, foam, wood, and craft paints.

Get inspired by the anti-monumental sculptures in Phyllida Barlow’s exhibition Eleven Columns before making your own three-dimensional art.

Workshops with Kendra Yee

Saturday, November 4

Join arts practitioner Kendra Yee for an introductory workshop on sculpture that will explore the role of memory and storytelling in art-making. This workshop will invite participants to translate lived experiences into a sculptural work that they can take home with them.

Registration is required for these workshops as there is limited capacity.

TD Community Sunday

Sunday, November 5

Channel your creativity using what are often seen as disposable and non-art materials such as cardboard, textiles, foam, wood, and craft paints. Discover the grand forms of sculpture by crafting personal, mini-monuments or even anti-monuments in this drop in activity. Taking inspiration from Barlow’s non-monumental approach, these sculptures can be taken home or left behind to be reimagined into new artworks.
