PA Days at MOCA

Friday, November 15, 2024
 | 11:00 am
 – 4:00 pm
 | Drop-in | Free with Admission

This PA Day, join in on activities and short kid-friendly tours that invite students to engage with contemporary art on their day off. Families will have the opportunity to create artwork that responds to the all-ages opera and book, The Flight of the Hummingbird: A Parable for the Environment, co-produced by the Vancouver Opera and Pacific Opera Victoria and written and illustrated by exhibiting artist, Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas. This environmental fable about moral courage urges us all to do what we can for our planet.

This activity asks families with elementary students to consider the soundscapes in our natural and built environment and to create artwork. We invite children grades K–8, supervised by an adult, to drop by and join the fun!

This activity is free with admission. Book ahead, or acquire your ticket at the door.

Upcoming PA Days at MOCA

While we don’t have any events scheduled at the moment, we invite you to explore our past exhibitions and stay connected for what’s next.

FAQ

At MOCA, drop-in programmes—like PA Days or our TD Community Sundays—are open-ended art-making activities that offer short, engaging experiences for younger participants. You can expect to drop in for a short time before or after a tour of the museum to try out colouring, crafts, and art games.

Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. This programme is designed for the whole family to enjoy!

At this time we are only offering select dates from the TDSB Elementary PA Day calendar, however, all elementary-aged children are welcome to attend.

You do not need to be enrolled in a TDSB school to participate if your child also has the day off from school.

This programme is designed to enrich your family’s visit to MOCA while school isn’t in session. We will have kid-friendly activities and tours that are designed to be suitable and enjoyable for ages 4 through 12. Older or younger children are also welcome to participate. No child shall be left unattended by their parent or guardian.

MOCA does not currently have a dedicated lunch space and does not have water fountains available, so please make sure to plan accordingly. In general, food and drink are not permitted in the Museum, however, a sealed water bottle may be used on the Ground Floor. Weather permitting, we have an outdoor space that can be used for lunches and snacks.

If you would like to purchase food following your visit, MOCA’s cafe partner Forno Cultura is located on the Ground Floor and offers light fare such as sandwiches, sweets, coffee, and a range of beverages. For more information visit their website here.
